Lake Koocanusa offers a variety of sport fish such as Kokanee Salmon, King and Kamloop Rainbows. Our main target species is the Kamloops, but a surprise bycatch of a big Bull is always welcome!

The lake is open for fishing year-round and typically fishes best when water temps are below 60 degrees. This means early spring – until water temperatures rise and late fall/winter after they fall again are the best times to fish Lake Koocanusa.

A heated, cabin boat makes this an enjoyable fishing experience!

Koocanusa Lake runs as deep as 370 feet and is 90 miles in length, half of which we share with Canada. Fishing Lake Koocanusa requires an all day charter and as always, a Montana fishing license is required to fish all Montana waters.

It was a tough day of fishing, fish were hard to come by; for other boats that is. Joe Sangimino managed to get us in to 9 fish and 8 of them made it to the boat. I think we were one of the only boats catching fish. I appreciated the effort he put forth and the willingness to answer all my questions.
